Where does the time go? With all the excitement in this country of ours it's difficult to keep track!

I bet old Schabir Shaik wishes he never got involved in the arms deal. Seems like the other day that I thought that big smile is out of pride for making good for this country. In the meantime it was a smirk, a show of disrespect and the evil thought of how much money he's going to make out of this pretty deal.

I'm a firm believer in that saying about the wheel that turns? Seems for some it turns a bit faster. Especially with the ANC govern"munt" taking it's time to try rid itself from the Scorpions which seems unperturbed about who and what they investigate - good on them! Mbeki wanted corruption out of govern"munt" but it seems that this idea was a BAD one. He's definitely hurting a lot of friends and comrades around him.

The story so far - Shaik has been lying in court. About his qualifications, his intentions and his actions. The half-a-mil that Jacob Zuma received a month from the French company (who got a nice cut of the arms deal pie in conjunction with one of Shaiks' local companies) is claimed to have been a donation first to a business venture that collapsed, then as a donation to the ANC - pick the one you like best. My monkey puzzles don't have wrong answers!

But wait, there's more! The original "bribe" was meant for our next President (he who admits to living way beyond his means) for protection against any investigation into irregularities in the arms deal. Now that smacks of corruption already. Never mind the total of 1 million they already paid to Zuma. The arrangement was that the half-mil a year payments will continue until the dividends from ADS (Shaik's company) became available.

This unscrupulous business man decided "not to take the court into his confidence" and therefore lied to protect his old pal Zuma. That's perjury. Now Shaik has decided to appeal to the court that whatever he said was a lie and that he bribed Thetard and Thomson without Zumas knowledge. That would benefit our next President immensely and of the possible minimum 15 years in jail that Shaik can expect, he will definitely be pardoned when Zuma eventually takes over the rains in 2009. What's four years between friends?

Shaik is a lier, a cheat and a thief. He should've been in politics.

Quick notes - two additional galleries were added this week. You like cars and bikes? Then go check it out.

Fuel is now at it's most expensive - R5.22 a liter.
