I've had a recent request to make these pages available in German. Anyone else while I'm at it? Should I do it in American too (any comments Bill)?

Seriously though, even though this web site has grown beyond my wildest expectations, this is still very much a hobby which by the grace of a good friend, cost me very little except for my time. But with an increased readership comes a certain personal responsibility.

This site is about "my" perspective on "my" (?) fatherland. What cheeses me off, what is upsetting according to my upbringing and values. I'm part of a proud Afrikaner nation (and by the grace of God, white) and refuse to lower my standards or my moral values (and I don't live in Orania). I was taught tolerance and acceptance of those whose values might not be the same, but one can take only so much! And through these pages I have found many who feels the same. Thank you for your support.

The whole Zuma saga is getting a bit too much now. Spin doctors galore with sneaky underhand tactics to "discredit" the ANC upper echelons. They don't rate too high in my books though, with political infighting and promises they cannot (or will not) deliver on. On radio today the guy in charge of the Gautrain project committed himself to finishing off the project before 2010, without a further escalation in costs. There is so much to do and so little time.

The transport business in this country sucks, full stop. The taxi industry has become a force within themselves which will take major commitment from government to regulate. Millions of Rands are lost in taxes which by itself could provide the necessary funding in getting our transport and roads in order. SAFM, a local radio station had a phone-in session yesterday afternoon - subject : taxis. A law unto themselves. In general road users don't count, police are being shot at and road regulations violated.

Back to Zuma. Our once flamboyant and charming vice-president seems to stick with the old class (at 63 years old, what do we expect) continuing the tradition of what some whites perceive the "barbarian" black is all about. Adding fuel to the fire is the last thing we need to give reconciliation the best chance possible.

These new charges of rape against Zuma is surprising and makes one wonder if there are some darker forces operating. Then again, how many officials have been accused of rape in the past? From prominent sports people to government officials. What is the matter with these people? Why is a woman getting raped every couple of minutes in this country? Why is "our" history littered with treachery and murder? Is this a "black" thing?

This week a High Court judge criticised the minister of Correctional Services for refusing parole to a prisoner who's dying of Aids. "Medical parole" as it's known seems to be in order for murderers in order for them to die with "dignity". My arse in a glass! In this case the 32 year old man served nearly four years of his life sentence for murder and robbery. I don't know who his victims were, and I really don't care much if they were black or white or coloured or Indian, he (the prisoner) did not afford his victims any dignity. And where does his lawyer come from with "It is regrettable that one has to turn to the courts for an order when the department is failing the constitutional rights of prisoners"? Of course I feel for his family but unfortunately our social life determines that I feel more relieve that there's one less prisoner we have to sustain.
