Government declared our power outages a national emergency today.

Eskom told our biggest gold mines that they cannot ensure reliable power. Of course the mines did what was best for their employees - they shut down operations. The global effect was that the gold price soared and the mining groups devaluated in share value. A major platinum mine also stopped operations.

Now if that's not having an impact on foreign investment in this country, then nothing short of a civil war will. Government keeps on apologising for their stuff-up in 1994 when they ignored Eskom. If this was a company they would've all been fired but instead they're sitting pretty with state sponsored generators (Mbeki specifically) and still driving their fancy cars with their outrageous salaries. People want some ones head and the CEO of Eskom offered his - then fire him!

Strange how "The Good News" has no comment on this in their latest newsletter.

Madam & Eve

I'm the first to agree that a witch hunt at this stage of the game is a waste of time and energy, but someone or a collective must shoulder the responsibility and take the consequences, eventually.

But this is customary of the "prisoners united guild". No one gets the blame and if one was foolish enough to get caught in the act, a minimal punishment is meted out. Yengeni for one, Schabir will probably get out pretty soon (with Zuma in the wings as the next president). Previous criminals are already lining up for top government positions with their comrade Zuma. Seems it's a prerequisite and a must on your CV to have been in jail at some stage of your life, otherwise you cannot run a country. But more on this later..

Emergency measures regarding the power shortages include solar panels and batteries for all traffic lights. Yeah right. How long will it stay there? How long before our townships are brimming over with "traffic light" solar panels? Government committed themselves to subsidising solar panels for home owners. We'll see how far we get with this. You'll probably have to qualify for this subsidy and I'm sure there'll be strict measures to stop us whiteys from gaining any benefit out of this.

As I predicted some time ago, the Scorpions are set to disappear. An article in the Mail & Guardian outlined the reasons behind this. It's actually quite simple and easy to understand. There are way too many comrades who are under investigation. The Scorpions do their job well and their conviction rate amazing. The excuse offered by the ANC? They cannot allow an organisation like this to become too powerful. Hogwash. The Scorpions report to the NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) who in turn report to the president.

The ANC government (especially the coming one) don't want a unit like the Scorpions around when the new leadership take over. They want to do as they please with no-one around to nail the bastards who break the law. Another Zimbabwe coming up? Only the future will tell, but by that time it'll be too late for most of us.

And Uhuru (the night of the long knives)? Most people write this off as nonsense, as something the world will not allow. I'm afraid, if it's real the world will be too late to do anything about it. And would they really care? After the fact yes, but I have yet to see concrete proof of neo-Nazis and foreign governments on standby for this event. Sure, there is an underground racist movement in every country. Movements which are prepared to fight for the survival of the white race in their respective countries, but do they have the resources to come to the aid of some foreign country on the other side of the world? I don't think so.

We can only wait. Nelson Mandela is getting old and maybe the militant blacks are in fact waiting for this day. With our government jumping at every opportunity when a white man does something to a black person, blowing it out of proportion and thus fueling the racist fire, our days as white citizens in this country might be counted. I'm not professing militancy nor hatred or racism. What I am saying is be prepared.
