The CPIX rate dictates our interest rates. Or so it seems. The Consumer Price Index keeps on rising month on month and is mainly tied to fuel, services and food prices. This excludes house bonds.
Fuel we don't have any control over and with another increase of 80 cents a liter from next week, we'll breach R10.00 a liter for petrol. Diesel will be even higher. Services the normal consumer also have no control over. This is governments' baby and we all know how they've been sucking us dry with very little to show for it. Electricity will be going up by 30% in July. This is mainly due to Eskom fat cats getting paid huge bonuses for doing as little as possible and getting rid of the white "know-how". And of course dabbling in different markets to show huge profits which is what their bonus payments were based on.
I still say that the whole top structure of Eskom should be fired. If this was a private company their asses would've been toast a long time ago.
Food prices have increased so much that we eat less in order to afford fuel. The main driving force behind the average, across the board 40% increase in food products is fuel. Sure, a couple of companies have been found guilty of price fixing and had to pay massive fines to government, but the poor soul in the street who's been ripped off for so many years have seen very little benefit.
Now the banks are eventually getting their due. The competitions board has finished their investigation and found blatant rip-off fees to be the norm. Inter ATM charges being one of the main culprits where the consumer has to not only pay a fee to the competitor ATM used, but also to their own bank. This will probably take another two to three years before we see any benefit at all out of this, and by that time the banks have increased their rates so much that we'll probably never notice.
And the strikes for higher wages have begun. The Reserve Bank keep on hiking the interest rate, food and fuel prices keep on rising but the worker has to survive on a salary or wage which doesn't keep up with inflation. From the Metro Police (which used life rounds shooting at police who broke up their protest action with gas and rubber bullets) to 2010 stadium construction workers. The soccer world cup is around the corner and I sincerely hoped that we would find some sort of stability in this country at least two years before this major event.
Zimbabweans are in for a rough time as well. On the one side there's mad Bob, on the other there's South Africa. Not much of a choice. Might as well stay in Zimbabwe; it's probably safer.
We have a lot of "Rhodies" in this country. 20 to 30 Thousand maybe? They're all concerned about what will eventually happen in Zim, but at this stage I reckon the only thing that's going to work there is a military coup. The people will need help from a country that's got the military hardware, knowledge and resources. South Africa is out of the question. With wimp Mbeki scared sh*tless of mad Bob there is no way he'll commit himself to anything remotely. Even with backing from world powers like the US of A or Britain he'll still wet his pants and hide whimpering in a dark corner.
We've seen the cowards operate in government. They were all brave-hearts when they fought apartheid, but then again all terrorists are cowards. Criminals are cowards too. Now take those two statements and see who's running South Africa. Zuma is already collecting his cronies for when he becomes the next president of this country. At this stage he might only be a possible candidate but we all know that there's no-one else who'll dare oppose him.
Property laws are bulldozed through parliament which gives government the right to take anything, I repeat - anything if deemed by them to be in the public interest. They can take a whole town to house the "previously disadvantaged" at way less than the current market value. And you can't take this to court either. The only solution would be to either bulldoze and burn everything or to booby trap everything.
Does this sound familiar? Zimbabwe maybe?
The world should stop with their hand-outs. They should stop giving and giving. They should stop applauding tyrants and terrorists because after all that's what most ruling parties in Africa consists of. All those honorary degrees and acknowledgments were a total waste of time and and a true reflection of these institutions' and governments' inability and ignorance of everything African.
Mad Bob showed them what a kick in the arse feels like. Man, ek kry sooo lekker!
