Yes, cartoon time. I like Shapiro. He's to the point and speaks his mind. Now this is what the Zuma supporters are up in arms about -

Zapiro Let's look at this one carefully. Zuma suggests having a shower after intercourse. He's been fighting the justice system for a long time trying to get the charges against him dismissed or declared unconstitutional (whatever that might mean in his book). His cronies declared war on anyone and everyone who dare get in the way of JZ becoming the next South African president. They're prepared to kill for him. Zuma has been quiet about these statements and one can only assume that he really enjoys this attention and fellowship. He also won't discourage talk of killing and outright civil riot if things does not go his way.

The woman on the ground represents justice. This is recognised all over the world. Blindfolded with scales in her hand she (normally) stands unwavering. In this country though she gets raped. Day after day by ANC members who don't give a hoot. We've seen this with Tony Yengeni. First jailed for his part in the arms deal, released on bail soon after and breaking his bail conditions immediately after. He's since been in court for drunk driving but so far we haven't heard much else. Julius Malema publicly announced that those who tried to stop Zuma from becoming president will be killed. The ANC Youth League is prepared to kill for Zuma. Soon after Vavi made the same statement. Malema was taken to task and got off with a slap on the wrist. Obviously his understanding of English is such that us poor souls misinterpreted his statement. That's not what he meant, he says. As far as I know Vavi got off. Another pointer to the justice system getting abused is one judge who tried to have voice recordings of him in his drunken state (after crashing through a fence) declared as falsified. Then we have one Robert McBride who's been on "special leave" for two years now blocking investigators' access to statements made by some of his staff, after wrecking a car and disappearing from the scene. Coming back from a party and from bystander reports obviously in a drunken stupor. This from a man who orchestrated the bombing of a pub and killing innocent people in the so-called struggle.

How the mighty has fallen. Now, what else can one read in the above cartoon? That Zuma is a rapist? He got off on such charges claiming Zulu tradition has to prevail and discrediting the accuser. That he is raping the justice system? There we have a point.

There are cries for war. There are cries for killing. There are cries for public disorder. There are demands that the Zuma case be dropped because it's for the good of the country and a political solution should be found and justice should have no part to play. The ANC Youth League is already planning a massive party to celebrate Zumas freedom.

Read more about this at Thought Leader. Specifically at Jonathan Berger's column. The Mail and Guardian has dedicated much space on the debate around the cartoon. It's not that Zapiro is a stranger to politics or threats -
