Lots to say today. Schabir has been released from prison. A 15 year sentence which turned out to be 2 and a couple of months. You'll remember this man as the guy who secured bribes from a French arms manufacturer for himself and one Jacob Zuma. Reason the parole board let him go home? He suffers from high blood pressure. Of course everyone is up in arms about this as the law specifies that terminally ill prisoners can go home to die in peace. In other words, Schabir will die soon.., yeah, that's what I thought! And the ANC says they had nothing to do with it. This was the sole responsibility of the doctors (medical certificate), the parole board and Balfour. Balfour is the minister in charge and did this on his own accord without consulting with the ruling party? Yeah, that's what I thought. Did he do this to win favour with JZ? Who knows. Fact is that Schabir is home. You remember another crook called Tony Yengeni? That's why this sounds so familiar! And of course, no further investigation into the matter needed as JZ said that Schabir should've been released a long time ago. Zimbabwe style, I tell you.. A couple of months ago, when the oil price was hitting way over the 100 Dollar mark we paid just over R10.00 a liter at the gaspumps. Once oil hit the sub forty Dollar price our fuel price came down by about 40%. This week, with crude oil (sort of) stabilising in the mid forties our fuel price is going up again. Makes sense? Yeah, that's what I thought. Trevor Manual says we need money for infrastructure. Yeah, that we know. What we would like to know though is what happened to ALL THE MONEY we've been paying like good South African citizens over the past 15 years of ANC rule which was meant to maintain the infrastructure they got (for mahala) once white rule ended? With our toll roads and fuel levies (which by the way makes up more than 40% of the total per liter price of petrol), why do you need more money? It's obvious there are no controls in place. We've seen a couple of so-called scandals with ministers caught with the hand in the cookie jar, but what happened to them? They kept their jobs and they told the people that they will be paying this money back. When? Did they qualify for some sort of government discount scheme? Maybe Zuma needs a future government accountant? Methinks Schabir might get the job! Interesting piece I received from Nelly.
