Once again the ANC triumphed. Seems there is no stopping them. So they got a bit hammered this time by the DA and COPE (the new kid on the block which is the ANC just in another incarnation), but they still got the most votes.

What amazes me is the attitude of voters - if the ANC cannot provide we'll still vote for them, but we'll strike, protest, dance, etc. if we're unhappy. Seems that's the way they play it. And of course the rural areas; my goodness, do these people actually know that there are other parties to choose from? I doubt it.

It's been predicted and it's been lay ed out for all South Africans that the Western Cape will be the last bastion of civilised rule in Africa. I don't know what the problem is in the rest of South Africa but it's time that more and more "civilised" people move their operations and households down here. Slowly but surely we've seen an influx of blacks in the region and that's where all the ANC votes come from. These people are mostly foreigners and have been promised the world by the ANC led government. Like 1994, when busloads of Mozambicans and Zimbabweans were bussed into the country with promises of overflowing riches and a better life. This is fact.

Zuma now has the envies position of getting our economy back on track. When the canvassing started we started feeling the pinch of the worldwide recession. Now his excuses does not make sense. Surely you base your election campaign on the current situation first, anything more is a bonus. No excuses, I'm sorry. What you promised you'll deliver. You surely must plan for worse times. But that's the way indigenous Africans reason, the now is important and nothing else matters. That's tomorrows problems.

If you had any doubts about the ability of black people (again, in general) to rule themselves, check this out..., then make up your own mind. This is the mail I got :

I'm not ever in the habit of promoting African American Baptist preachers, however fiery & entertaining they may be. This is one massive exception - I exhort you, I URGE you to please watch this Youtube video before it gets pulled - click on the link below to watch. Be assured, this is electrifying stuff - pastor James Manning's video should be broadcast by the SABC 24/7 for the next 30 days.
The cold, naked truth, spoken like NEVER before. Be sure to watch the whole clip, it gets really good halfway through.

And if it's not available anymore, let me know as I have it. There is another clip also by the same pastor. The second clip is here.

Then there is Julius Malema - what a "mampara"! This man knows no bounds. Nandos (a local and not so local chicken outlet) flighted a TV advert on "change" which the ANC reckons we need. Malema is wounded like a three legged dog facing a hungry lion with nowhere to go. The man tried to bribe and then moved on to a typical ANC tactic of threats. No he's threatening with a country-wide revolt against Nandos. This clip is hilarious and so typical of Malemas' intelligence (or lack thereof).

Back to the more "traditional" rantings. The following from Doris -

How many blacks died during Apartheid?
Most South Africans are familiar with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) with Bishop Desmond Tutu as its chairman.

We have all heard about the 'atrocities' that were committed by the Apartheid Regime. The Sharpville 'massacre' comes to mind where 'innocent' protesting blacks were 'gunned down'. Some of us have seen the 'facts' portrayed in fairly recent movies which for instance shows a white policemen hanging out of the window of a Mercedes being driven by a fellow policeman and shooting a black schoolboy trying to run away.
Those evil, evil whites!

But was it really that 'bad'? Do we really know how many millions of innocent blacks were killed under Apartheid?

It seems we do and the source is none other than an investigation that was done by the HRC (Human Right Commission) and submitted as evidence to the TRC in 1997!

The statistics as to the number of blacks that were killed were for the years 1948 up to the election in 1994 and the total number of blacks killed were 21 000. Ouch! Quite a number!

But that's not really it! The report makes a distinction between two periods. One from 1948 till 1989 and then the next from 1990 up to the election in 1994.
And the number killed for the period from 1948 until 1989 is 7 000.
Where as the number killed from 1990 to 1994 a whopping 14 000! Which means that during the Apartheid reign of 41 years, 7 000 died compared to double the amount of dead in just 4 years! So more blacks were killed under De Klerk's 'new' anti-Apartheid government of 4 years than in 41 years of government under Apartheid!

But that's not all folks! Of the 14 000 killed during the 4 years it came out in the report that 92% were caused by blacks killing blacks! Only 5.6% were attributed to the Security Forces at the time.

So the numbers in short:
1948 - 1989: 7 000
1990 - 1994: 14 000 (of which 92% as a result of 'black-on-black' violence)

Not sure what the % is for 'black-on-black' violence during the period of 1948 - 1989 but I guess it won't be unreasonable to say that it was probably just as high!

Now what about the government under Nelson Mandela and the ANC? How
about a record number of 174 220 for the years 1994 till 2000 a period
of just 6 years! Not to mention the last 8 years!
It is absolutely clear from these statistics that the Apartheid years does not even come close to what's happening today under the ANC government. Truth speaks for itself although many people choose to ignore it!

So what was bad under Apartheid? Was it the fact that the average life
expectancy of a black increased from 38 to about 64 for the years 1948
until 1994, not to mention the decrease in infant deaths during that time? And what about education?

Well it seems in this political correct world of ours, facts does not matter anymore and as they say, history is written by those in control!
